Endotracheal tube is a flexible plastic tube that is placed through the mouth into the trachea (windpipe) to help a patient breathe.
The endotracheal tube is then connected to a ventilator, which delivers oxygen to the lungs. The process of inserting the tube is called endotracheal intubation.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Prior to intubation, deflate the cuff completely.
After intubation, inflate the cuff using the minimum volume of air to provide an effective seal.
Immediately after cuff inflation, auscultate both lung fields. If breech sounds diminished over adjust the tube as required.
Endotracheal Tube placement should be confirmed by viewing the position of the tube tip with chest radio graph.
